On Friday we went to a bar/restaurant to celebrate R's last day. It was a great night, but I'm glad we left early so the experience didn't get spoiled. B ordered a pound of mussels with bread to share, but they were so good I had to order my own half a pound of mussels, bread with whipped butter, and a glass of sprite. Dipping the bread in the mussels soup was delicious.
After that, we went to a lovely walk and talked about getting a puppy.
On the weekend I had the same breakfast for both days and it was so satisfying - cereal, apricot walnut toast with serbian sour cherry jam, chai tea, and berries. After reading Alone in the Kitchen with an Eggplant, I have a different perspective about eating the same foods over and over again.
I'm reading Near a Thousand Tables now, it's about the history of food - and it's very interesting and full of thought provoking insights.
For breakfast today, I had an entire baguette (well, demi baguette) with butter, lemon curd, and strawberries on the side. So good!
