I made strawberry oatmeal squares and cheddar chive scones over the weekend. The squares were hideously tasteless, but the scones were absolutely lovely - just like coffee shop ones.
It's annoying how hard it is to judge whether a recipe is good or not. I'm getting better, and increased the salt and decreased the baking powder in the scones recipe, but I was disappointed with how bad the squares came out.
I also ended up making a quick salad for dinner: mixed greens, japanese mushrooms in soy sauce, colorful peppers, cranberries, and some seeds. It wasn't the best dressing ever, but it was a healthy salad on a hot summer day.
