My name is Ekatrina, and I'm the baker behind Bulachki.
Unlike your typical baker story, I didn't grow up tagging along my mother in the kitchen, watching wistfully as she mixed batters and kneaded dough. Rather, the majority of my formative years were spent on simply eating - without giving much thought to anything else besides the pure pleasures of chewy buns and caramelized sugar. In fact, the first dessert I ever baked was at the ripe age of 20. The recipe depicted a beautifully fudgy brownie, but the end result was definitely not beautiful. In reality - I burnt them. But I was in a bad need of a brownie, so I set out to try again. And again... and again some more.
Somewhere during that process, I fell in love with baking: the scent of a perfectly browned butter, a glossy meringue, or a flavor combination that is just right. The ability to create something beautiful out of seemingly nothing has proven enchanting, and I've been obsessed ever since.
I set out to participate at the Farmers Market because I couldn't find the things I wanted to eat anywhere else. Many places sell beautiful pastries, but not many sell pastries that taste as beautiful as they look. This is exactly what I'm hoping to provide to you with my pastries - an eating experience that is thoroughly perfect.
And the brownies? I still make them to this day. Those are my Salted Caramel Brownies you can find at the Farmers Market, and I can promise you they won't be burnt this time.
